Almost every swimming pool and spa will grow in calcium hardness over time.
Calcium is present in tap water, so every time you add tap water to your pool or spa, you are adding calcium to your water.
As water evaporates, pure water transforms into vapor in the air, but everything else in that pool water including minerals like calcium stay suspended in the pool water.
One thing I can promise you is that over time your pool and spa water will harden from calcium hardness.
This calcium hardness will deposit on anything it contacts including pool tile.
Our goal is to see ideal chemical levels at our next pool service visit.
We want to see 2.0 to 3.0 ppm of free, available chlorine, 7.2 to 7.6 pH, and 80 ppm to 120 ppm of carbonate alkalinity.
Notice we mentioned carbonate alkalinity not total alkalinity!
Most test kits have a little blue cap and green cap solution vial along with a bigger white cap solution.
This test measures total alkalinity and we have to subtract our cyanuric alkalinity to gain that carbonate alkalinity result.
Send us your contact info., city where project is located, and exact service or repair in need.
There is a lot more to swimming pool cleaning than skimming leaves and brushing your pool walls.
Everyone can brush their teeth, but there are many more components to maintaining a beautiful smile and bite.
Swimming pool cleaning has many components as well.
You need to skim leaves, brush the pool wall, tile, and steps, vacuum the bottom, test and balance your chemicals, keep your pool equipment maintained and performing well, backwash your filter, kill algae, etc.
You also need to perform these tasks on a weekly basis which means there is little room for error.
